Meet Recap

Lake Central High School defeat Bishop Noll Institute 5-0 in first-round Regional competition today. Bishop Noll ended the boys varsity tennis season with a 12-4 overall record. We knew we were facing a tough team in first-round match. Our players fought very hard but the opponent team was a better team overall. Our #1 Doubles juniors Franco Komyatte and John Wea played their best match of the season. They had a very close match and had some incredible points. They fought hard and lost to Lake Central 7-5, 6-4. #1 Singles, #2 Singles, #3 Singles and #2 Doubles all lost in straight set. Head coach Eric Medina (’80) and assistant coach David Loo are pleased with our record this season. We are very proud of how the boys played the entire season. Since we lost some seniors from last year’s team, we found players that they had never played tennis before. We taught and tried to develop them to compete in a very short period. They turned out to be better than we thought from the start of the season. They picked up tennis fast since they played other sports. We should have another good team next season since we only need to replace two starting seniors.

#1 Singles: A. Walsh (11)- LC defeat Chris Gordon (12)-BN 6-2, 6-1
#2 Singles: S. Tulsiak (12)-LC defeat Ameer Lawrence (11)-BN 6-0, 6-1
#3 Singles: M. Matakovic (12)-LC defeat Blake Rentschler (12)-BN 6-0, 6-1
#1 Doubles: Seliger (12) & Galocy (11)-LC defeat Franco Komyatte (11) & John Wea (11)- BN 7-5, 6-4
