Bishop Noll Institute
Michigan City High School
Although Bishop Noll had a slow start to the game, they rallied together as a team and recorded a huge 14-7 come-from-behind road win against Michigan City on Monday evening.
The Warriors, who trailed 5-1 to start the sixth inning, put together a string of timely hits and heads-up base running to tally 13 runs in the final two innings of the game.
Sophomore, Danny Villarreal, lead off the sixth inning with a walk, which was followed by Junior, Isaac Rios’, double down the right field line. After Villarreal scored on a past ball, Sophomore, Jake Fuehrmeyer, doubled to right center to bring in Rios, cutting into Michigan City’s lead 5-3.
Trailing by two heading into the final inning, Noll’s bats came alive. Seniors, John Dado(3-5, 2B) and Angelo Kawanna (3-5 2 (2B)), came through with clutch hits to put the Warriors up for good. Fuehrmeyer recorded his second double of the game, brining in two more runs and extending Noll’s lead.
Sophomore, Antonio DeCrescenzo, came on in middle relief and picked up his second win of the season after allowing only one run on two hits in 3 1/3 innings pitched. Fuehrmeyer closed things out in the bottom of the seventh for the save.
The Warriors are now 5-2 on the season and will travel to Hanover Central Tuesday for a big conference matchup against the Wildcats. Game time set for 5 p.m.
