Bishop Noll Institute
* River Forest High School
It took an extra inning of play, but Bishop Noll found a way to get the job done, taking down River Forest on the road by a final score of 6-5.
Noll jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first and added another run in the top of the third. Leading 5-1, River Forest (who Noll will play in the first round of Sectionals) scored 4 runs in the bottom half of the six to tie things up and ultimately force extra innings for the second consecutive game. Angelo Kawanna, who was 1-2 at the plate, picked up his second walk of the game in the top of the 8th. The speedy senior made it to third following an errant throw to second on his steal attempt. A wild pitch brought Kawanna in for the go-ahead run.
Sophomore Ryan Bradtke went 2-5 at the plate with a sacrifice fly and his fellow classmate, Jack Poland went 1-3 with a big double to left center.
Senior Zach Hoffman shutdown River Forrest in the last 2 1/3 innings, allowing no runs and no hits while striking out four.
The Warriors are now 15-10 and wrap up regular season play against the Highland Trojans on Thursday at Dowling Park. First pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
